Location

Chau Doc City belongs to An Giang Province. The city is the famous place for pilgrimage because there is sacred Lady Xu Temple. Chau Doc City is also the value destination in Mekong Delta by the interesting places for visiting. Chau Doc City is well known by the border city with Cambodia to the North West.  It is easy for tourists who love to come to Cambodia from this city by the river way or by road.  




Commune: There are 5 wards and 2 communes in Chau Doc City. They are Chau Phu A, Chau Phu B, Nui Sam, Vinh My, Vinh Nguon Wards and Vinh Chau, Vinh Te Communes.   
Tourist places: Nui Sam Ward, Chau Phu A Ward and Vinh Te Commune.
Climate: Chau Doc City is in the region of monsoon climate. The average temperature is from 26 C degree to 29 C degree. There are rain time from May to November and dry time from December to April. It is appropriate for tourists who travel in Chau Doc City round year because this land has its special things for exploring as in the rain time.

Landscapes

Tay An Pagoda: one of the most famous pagodas in Chau Doc City. The pagoda is located in Nui Sam Mountain. It is located far from Chau Doc City’s center about 5 km.   
Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb: This is the important destination in Chau Doc City. It is the place of rest of Thoai Ngoc Hau who was contributed in building Chau Doc City from the beginning time. Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb is located in Nui Sam Ward. It is located far from Chau Doc City’s center about 6 km.
Vinh Te Canal: the famous canal is 87 km. It is located parallel with the border line with Cambodia. This canal was the important way for transfer in the past for habitants who lived in the area of An Giang Province and Kien Giang Province.   
Chau Giang Brocade Village:  the village is called Chau Phong Brocade Village where you can explore the traditional work with the local special textile products. The village is in Chau Phong Commune. It is located far from Chau Doc City about 2 km by ferry.
Xu Lady Temple: the most important temple and also the very sacred temple in Chau Doc City. This is the pilgrimage place where gather many pilgrims round year. The temple is located in Sam Ward. It is located far from Chau Doc City’s center about 6 km.
Sam Mountain: The mountain is located in Sam Ward. It is the great landscape of the city with the wonderful scenery where the pagoda and temple such as Tay An Pagoda and Xu Lady Temple locate in.

Festivals

Lady Xu Temple’s Festival: the important festival in Chau Doc City. It is organized in April in lunar time in Lady Xu Temple.
Chol Chnam Thmay Festival: this is the festival of Khmer people in Chau Doc City. It is happened in April each year in lunar time.  
Ky An Festival: the local festival that is happened in Chau Phu Temple. The festival is organized in May each year in lunar time.
And there are many other unique festivals in the city.

Local specialties


Chau Doc City is one of the cities of specialties in Mekong Delta. You can find here many delicious local dishes such as Vinh Trung noodles soup, grilled snakehead fish, fish noodles, beef, local salad, hotspot, etc. If you love to have some souvenir from Chau Doc City, you can buy Tan Chau Silk and brocade weaving products from Chau Phong Village.
