Vang Vieng

Location

Vang Vieng is considered one of the most attractive tourist towns in Laos. It is located to the north of Vientiane Capital. Tourists love to visit this town mostly if they have a chance to come to Laos. Here they can find many activities for relax such as climbing, kayaking etc.






  • Climate: The climate in Vang Vieng is not so hard. It is suitable for travelling. The rain season in this town is from May to October. The dry season is in the rest months. The average temperature is in 27 C degree but there is sometimes the high temperature of 40 C degree in the dry time in the period of March to May.
  • Transportation: Travel conveniently by land, river way to the town and from it to other places.

Landscapes

  • Tham Sang: this is one of the great caves in Vang Vieng. In the cave where you can find some Buddha Images and unique stalactites in the shape of elephants. The cave is located in the north of Vang Vieng Town.  
  • Tham Nam: this is also the famous cave in the cave system of Vang Vieng. There is the long cave for tourists who explore. The best time for conquer this cave is in the dry time because the cave door is not high, so it is not safe if tourists discover the cave in the rain time.
  • Tham Loup and Tham Hoi: this is the amazing caves in Vang Vieng. The place is located far from Tham Sang about 1 km to the northwest. You can find the Buddha in the Tham Hoi. And there are the spectacular stalactites in the large cave Tham Loup.
  • Tham Jang: Tham Jang is considered the most famous cave in the cave system in Vang Vieng. The cave had been the shelter of the people in 19th century before their enemies. So Tham Jang is the great destination for visitors who explore the spectacular nature. Beside visitors who have chance to know a little bit of the stories related to people who lived in the area at that time.
  • Nam Ngum Lake: the famous lake is far from Vientiane nearly 100 km to the north of the capital. This is considered one of the wonderful places for tourists to visit. The lake is an artificial reservoir that created from Nam Ngum River with its long 354 km long. To explore the lake, there is the boat trip to help tourists who visit natural sites along the lake, the fishing village etc.  
  • Ban Bor Village: this is the traditional salt village that located close to Vientiane. In this village, people use the traditional way to product salt. So this is the great destination for tourists who know more about the unique traditional way for salt.  

And there are many other famous destinations in the cities.

Festivals:

  • Rocket Festival: It is called Boun Bang Fai originally. It is happened from 01st May to 31st May of the year.
  • Boun Ork Pansa Festival: the festival is happened from 1st Oct to 31st Oct of the year.


And there are many other unique festivals in the city.
