Luang Prabang

Location

Luang Prabang is located in the north of Laos. It is the capital of Luang Prabang province and considered the amazing destination of the country. The place is famous with the old town which now is the heritage site of the world by its value of culture, history and architecture. 

Climate: Luang Prabang is in the area of tropical wet and dry climate. There are the rain season from April to October and the dry time from November to March. The average temperature is 27 C degree. 
Transportation: Travel conveniently by land, river way and airline to the city and from it to other provinces.

Landscapes

Ban Phanom: this is the traditional village with textile making. There are many great products from here and you can buy some like the souvenirs. The village is far from Luang Prabang Canter some kilometers. It takes you about 10 minutes to come by tuk tuk.
Elephant Village Sanctuary: The village is far from Luang Prabang about 15 km to the southeast. It is called the The elephant Park Project where the elephants are protected and taken care of. Visit the village; you can understand how people take care of the elephants, the have a trip to visit some destination in the village by riding an elephant.
Kuang Si Waterfall: the amazing waterfall in Luang Prabang. It is located far from Luang Prabang nearly 30 km to the south. The waterfall is about 50 m high. The water falls through different levels and drops into the large holes where you can swim.
Pak Ou Caves: The cave locates far from Luang Prabang about 25 km. The case is considered one of the most holy places in Laos. There are many Buddha Statues in here. And it is called the large natural pagoda in Luang Prabang.
Royal Palace Museum: The museum is called Haw Kham, located in the center of Luang Prabang. It takes you just some minutes for walking. It was built in 1904 with the role of Royal Palace. The place became the museum in 1995 after the renovation.
Wat Long Khoun: the pagoda is located not far from Luang Prabang center. It was built long time ago. The pagoda is considered one of the typical samples for architecture of Laos in 18th century.
Wat Xieng Thong: the pagoda is in Xieng Thong Village and not far from Wat Long Khuon. Wat Xieng Thong is one of the most famous pagodas in Laos with unique architecture, history meaning. It is the place where happens some important events and festivals in the year.
Luang Prabang Night Market: it is considered the ideal place for visiting and shopping the souvenir. The market is located in the center of Luang Prabang. It is easy and convenient for you to walk to.
And there are many other famous destinations in the cities.


Festivals:

Splashing Songkran Celebration: It is called the Water Throwing Festival or Water Festival Attack to welcome the New Year in Laos. It is happened in the middle of April each year.
Boat Racing Festival: it is called Boun Souang Heua. The local traditional festival is happened before in the end of August to the beginning of October each year in lunar time.
And there are many other unique festivals in the city.


Local specialties

There are different local specialties in the city such as sweet coconut biscuits, dried buffalo, crispy deep fried Mekong River weed, green papaya salad, smokey eggplant dip, deep dried mushrooms, deep dried bamboo shots and other typical specialties.
